Since we had some extra hands around the house, we planned our koi moving day. All of the koi less than 8 inches were heading to the small pond. The koi going to the show were also being moved. It was not an easy task to catch the koi in the large pond. It required a seine net and someone being in the water. We saw a number of koi make some dramatic jumps to freedom. In the end, most of the fish were moved.
I’m a little worried about catching the five large fish for the show on Friday. I think we will have to drain the water down to bag them for the show. I’m terribly worried about the yamabuki who can get stressed and break a blood vessel in the gills. The large fish do not seem to excited about being in a smaller pond for now.
